Hybrid working from home and across the bakery and retail outlets in Wantage/Witney and the surrounding areas.
Are you super organised, friendly and great at trouble shooting? We're looking for a dynamic full-time person to manage our retail outlets and bakery. We are a well-known, growing business based in Wantage and Witney with a market presence across Oxfordshire and Wiltshire.
This role is fast-paced and busy and requires someone who can think on their feet and is not afraid to get stuck in and use their initiative! You must be sales focused and be comfortable promoting products to different types of retail and wholesale outlets.
Ideally you would be from a food retail or production environment and familiar with food safety and allergen management.
Your duties will include:
Operations
Regular visits to retail outlets (including markets) to help support staff and address any operational concerns
Managing the market assistants and shop assistants to ensure there is proper training in place, e.g. products and food are displayed correctly and inline with Food Safety standards
Keeping products and prices up to date on the till systems across the retail outlets
Ensuring there is an effective cake production process in place for internal sponge ordering
Managing resource planning and rotas, including overseeing recruitment
Managing and creating a combined drivers schedule
Overseeing the waste management across the retail outlets to minimise waste and reduce costs
Assisting and managing the stock ordering across the retail outlets
Facilities management such as internet, electricity, alarms, telephone lines
Health & safety/Food safety & allergens/legal:
Ensuring ingredients and allergen management is up to date and that the correct documents and staff training are in place for the retail outlets to make sure they are compliant
Ensuring ingredient lists and labels are correct and compliant and have been distributed across all retail outlets and wholesale customers as needed
General health & safety including first aid
Managing food hygiene including ensuring cleanliness of shops and market stalls, pest control and handling Food Standards Agency visits
Monitoring Food Safety & Allergens training to make sure staff members are up to date and have the correct training materials
Keep GDPR and data protection in mind in day-to-day responsibilities
Business management:
Creating and maintaining relationships with new and existing wholesalers, including onsite visits
Oversee market materials and websites to ensure they are up to date with new products
Customer service:
Managing the enquires inbox
Resolving complaints and queries
Absence cover:
Stepping in and supporting the team during staff absences
Cash management:
Creating cash floats for the markets and doing weekly banking
Ensuring safe storage of cash takings across all outlets
Ensuring robust processes are followed
Skills required:
Excellent organisational skills
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Experience of management within the food retail industry
Good knowledge of Food Safety & Allergen in a production environment
Good IT skills including Word, Excel and Outlook
Excellent communicator with good written skills, e.g. customer service email responses
Confident with trouble shooting
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to work under own initiative
Flexibility to take on other tasks within a changing environment
Must be able to drive and have access to your own vehicle
