Operations Manager For The Cricket Bat Willow Industry

Banbury, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

English Willow is the UK's leading and fastest-growing operation in the Cricket Bat Willow forestry and manufacturing industry. As innovators in our field, we offer a great opportunity to join a forward-thinking and supportive team.

Specialising in sourcing cricket bat willow trees from estates throughout the UK, and processing the timber at our facility in Oxfordshire, English Willow provides a full range of tree maintenance and planting services to farmers, land agents and landowners across the country. Our work with renowned estates has earned us a strong reputation for delivering exceptional results.

You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations--supporting the client management team in coordinating with felling contractors and hauliers, manage logistics and planning for our bi-annual tree maintenance visits and ensuring all activities are planned and executed efficiently, with client satisfaction at the core.

Employees benefit from structured career development and comprehensive training to enhance their skills and grow professionally.

Due to expansion we are looking for a new team member for full-time work Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate with clients, colleagues, and contractors to plan and manage felling operations, including tree extraction and site clean-up, ensuring clear and effective communication throughout the process. Oversee the maintenance team, ensuring operations are efficiently planned and executed. Work closely with the Yard Manager to manage the supply chain--from site to yard, through manufacturing and export--ensuring timely and efficient flow of stock. Foster operational excellence by collaborating closely with all departments to streamline workflows and communication. Maintain a strong focus on environmental responsibility, ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, adhering to company procedures. Ensure machinery and vehicle issues are promptly addressed to maintain operational continuity and mitigate financial losses. Take accountability for the successful delivery of contracts. Collaborate with operational leadership to set and achieve performance and improvement goals aligned with business objectives. Demonstrate strong communication, planning, and organisational skills, with a keen attention to detail and proactive attitude. Travel to estates and sites across the UK as needed, maintaining excellent relationships with landowners and third-party stakeholders. Support the team with hands-on manual tasks and yard operations when necessary. Land agency experience is an advantage but not essential.
