To help drive this next stage, we're seeking a highly capable

Operations Manager

to take ownership of our operational performance, leading efficiency, profitability, and safety across all departments.

The Role



Reporting to the

Managing Director

, the Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operational delivery, ensuring all projects are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably.

You'll manage and support the

scheduler

,

yardsman

, and liaise closely with the

Contracts Managers

to ensure consistent workflow, productivity, and quality control.

This role will be pivotal in bringing structure, accountability, and continuous improvement to Taylor Roofs' operations -- freeing senior leadership to focus on growth and strategy.

Key Responsibilities



Oversee daily operational delivery across all active roofing projects, ensuring jobs are completed safely, on time, and to standard. Lead and support the scheduler and yardsman, ensuring efficient coordination of labour, materials, and resources. Monitor productivity, job costs, and margins, taking proactive steps to drive profitability. Implement and improve operational systems and processes to enhance efficiency and consistency. Champion

Health & Safety

, ensuring compliance across all worksites and embedding a safety-first culture. Collaborate with the Contracts Managers and wider leadership team to identify and resolve operational challenges. Review job performance data and contribute to the company's operational scorecard and Level 10 meetings. Oversee fleet, yard, and stock management, maintaining control of assets and minimising waste. Drive team performance through clear communication, coaching, and accountability. Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, partners, and subcontractors.

Success will be measured by:



Improved operational efficiency and job profitability. Consistent delivery of projects on time, on budget, and to quality standards. Reduced waste, downtime, and call-backs. Improved Health & Safety performance. Positive engagement and accountability across operational staff.

The Person



You are a

practical, people-focused leader

who thrives on improving systems and getting results through others. You combine a deep understanding of site operations with strong organisational and commercial awareness.

You're as comfortable walking the yard and visiting job sites as you are analysing performance data and driving strategic improvements.

Essential Experience



Proven experience managing operations within construction, roofing, or a similar trades environment. Strong understanding of workforce planning, scheduling, and resource allocation. Demonstrable success in improving efficiency, profitability, and safety performance. Excellent organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate teams. Solid understanding of Health & Safety and compliance requirements.

Desirable



Experience implementing operational systems or KPIs (e.g., EOS-style scorecards). Familiarity with

BigChange JobWatch

or similar job management software. Understanding of P&L and cost management. Formal Health & Safety training or accreditation (e.g., SMSTS, IOSH, NEBOSH).

Salary:

Based on experience (performance-based bonus potential)

Hours:

45 per week (Monday-Friday, 7am-5pm)

Location:

Livingston HQ / sites across Central Scotland
