Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a proactive and highly organised

Operations Manager

to play a central role in supporting the smooth and effective running of the Faculty. Reporting to the Head of Administration and Finance, this is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing core operational areas including HR, Health and Safety, IT coordination, governance, and internal communications.

Key Responsibilities



Line management of the Faculty Office Manager and Operations Assistant. Oversight of Faculty Office operations including governance, committee support, events, academic visitors, and membership. Lead responsibility for Health and Safety, acting as Departmental Safety Officer. Oversight of HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, and liaison with the Humanities Division HR Shared Service. Management of IT provision and coordination with the Humanities Division IT Shared Service. Support for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives, acting as Secretary to the Faculty's EDI Committee. Servicing key Faculty committees including the termly Faculty meeting and News UK Committees. Oversight of internal communications, including staff handbooks and intranet content. Supporting change management activities linked to the Faculty's relocation, reviewing and updating operational processes. Representing the Faculty internally and externally and deputising for the HAF when required. Taking on a variety of operational and project-based tasks as needed.

About You



We are looking for a professional and adaptable individual who can balance strategic oversight with hands-on operational management. You will bring a collaborative and solutions-focused approach, excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong understanding of administrative processes in a complex academic environment.

Selection Criteria



Significant administrative experience

in a higher education or similarly complex environment, including experience managing change. *

Proven Office Management experience is essential -
