Operations / Site Accountant

Accrington, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Hawthorn One is actively representing a large Manufacturing business based near Haslingden, with good motorway links from Burnley, Blackburn and Rawtenstall. The business is a large global business supplying a range of customers from Blue Chip accounts to small independents globally.

They are constantly developing their offering to meet their customers needs with new projects in the pipeline with a strong focus on sustainability within their industry.

They have a strong, solid and experienced finance team, and they are looking for their first site accountant to work closely with the Operations Director and Finance Director.

The Job

This Operations Accountant job will take the P&L of their 60m TO site, and delve into the detail of the accounts. You'll be instrumental in diving profitability of the site.

You will be expected to challenge the norm to improve performance and efficiency across production. Ensure accurate product costings across all ranges to provide accurate margin forecasts and understand the profit drivers. Understand and explain the monthly P&L variances, providing a comprehensive commentary and suggestions for change. Support on short term and long term projects, including new business proposals and initiatives from a financial perspective.
You'll work closely with the core finance team to understand how materials, indirect spend, and ongoing initiatives are influencing financial results with the freedom to investigate where you believe costs could be saved, or efficiency improved whether in labour, materials, supply chain or other areas.

At first, you'll work under direction with ongoing support from the Operations Director and Finance Director, but the expectation is that you'll quickly become inquisitive, the kind of person who notices when something doesn't look right and wants to find out why.

The Requirements:

You must have management accounts experience, ideally from a manufacturing business, with the ability to understand and review a complex P&L. You must have strong analytical skills, able to manipulate large scale data effectively. You must be keen, ambitious, inquisitive, and enjoy getting into the detail of the accounts and in turn take action to influence them positively. You must be able to work autonomously, with the confidence in your ability to voice suggestions, in the correct way. Manufacturing experience, in particular with product costings, labour and material variances will be highly advantageous.
This position is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced commercial / operational accountant, or management accountant that is looking to step away from the general month end duties to provide significant value and insights. You'll work along two inspirational leaders who will mentor you whilst you develop this role.

The future of the position can be carved out by you. There are endless gains to be had throughout the group, and for the right person this role can develop into a leadership position with minimal limitations providing objectives are achieved.

Full study support will be provided if required.
