As an Operation Support Supervisor, you will support Team Managers in the supervision and coordination of refuse, recycling, commercial waste and crews. Your work will help ensure our services are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
You will spend time both in the depot and out on routes, supporting crews, monitoring performance, handling complaints, delivering training and helping maintain a strong, positive safety culture.
This is a varied and hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, solving problems and making a real difference to the local environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Supporting the daily delivery of refuse, recycling and street cleansing services
Supervising and monitoring frontline crews, including site visits and safety checks
Providing training (e.g., manual handling, bin lift operation)
Driving LGV refuse vehicles where needed to support operational delivery
Managing recruitment and induction for drivers and loaders
Handling operational data, staff records and performance monitoring
Working with the Fleet team to ensure vehicles and equipment are available
Helping resolve complaints and ensuring learning is captured
Supporting people-related processes such as absence, probation and HR documentation
Ordering and managing stock such as PPE and trade waste bins
Who We're Looking For
You will be: A strong team player with excellent communication skills
Able to stay calm under pressure and manage multiple priorities
Confident, assertive and capable of leading frontline teams
Safety-focused, proactive and committed to excellent customer service
Comfortable working with IT systems and operational software
Willing to work flexibly, including occasional weekend cover
Essential:
Class C Driving Licence (LGV), experience of frontline waste or similar operational services, and experience supervising staff.
Where You'll Work
You will be based at our
Waterbeach Depot
, with occasional travel to Cambourne. Working hours will be staggered to support service needs, and weekend work may be required.
