Reporting to the Supervisor, this role plays a key part in delivering a high-quality service to our customers and maintaining the highway network to a consistently high standard. You'll support the delivery of maintenance activities in line with the strategies and policies of both the County Council and Essex Highways.
Strong customer service skills are essential, as you'll be representing the Council and contributing to a professional, customer-focused team. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities are required to ensure all interactions are courteous, clear, and informative--helping customers understand the services we provide and the standards they can expect.
The Role
Pothole repair and carriageway defect reinstatements.
Carriageway and footway patching and construction.
Drainage works, including laying pipes, resetting ironwork and gully / access chamber construction.
Kerbing works.
Installation of road signs and other small civil works.
About You
A current, valid driving licence is essential, with LGV Class 2 entitlement highly desirable.
New Roads and Streetworks or NHSS 12 training and qualifications would be highly beneficial.
Experience in the use of handheld technology (PDAs, Smartphones, etc) would be advantageous but not essential. Local knowledge of the county would be beneficial
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with customers both internally and externally. Experience of working in the public eye or other customer-facing roles would be advantageous.
Knowledge of highways maintenance.
