Job Purpose



Lightspeed seeks a highly skilled and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our expanding technical team, reporting directly to the Head of OSS/BSS/UX Systems and Applications. This is a permanent and pivotal role that will be instrumental in ensuring seamless software delivery operations and maintaining the stability and optimal performance of Lightspeed's vital telecommunications infrastructure.

The successful candidate will assume comprehensive responsibility for the end-to-end software delivery lifecycle within Lightspeed's critical OSS (Operational Support Systems), BSS (Business Support Systems) and UX (User Experience) ecosystem. This role demands extensive collaboration with external and internal development teams, third-party vendors and operations personnel to cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and efficient high-quality delivery. The position reflects Lightspeed's commitment to long-term talent investment and acknowledges the critical nature of this role within the company's rapidly evolving infrastructure landscape. What we need you to do Reporting directly to the Head of OSS/BSS/UX Systems and Applications, the DevOps Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end software delivery lifecycle within Lightspeed's critical OSS/BSS/UX ecosystem ensuring seamless operations and maintaining stability and optimal performance. The OSS part of the role will focus on technical operations, including solutions that require integration of network data, service provisioning, performance management, and inventory systems through automated CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure management. The BSS part of the role will deal with the customer-facing aspects of the business, such as (but not limited to) customer relationship management (CRM - Salesforce Communications Cloud), billing, revenue management, and customer service systems, ensuring reliable deployment and support of these critical business applications. The DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing scalable infrastructure, automating continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, and upholding the highest standards of security, performance, and reliability for all applications supporting overall business objectives.

Experience



In House Development - Bringing in in-house capabilities having the responsibility to deliver in-house group responsibilities to remove over-reliance on third-party support and third-party supply chain. Infrastructure & Deployment Management - Design, implement, and continuously optimise CI/CD pipelines tailored specifically for telecom microservices and network elements. Execute seamless deployments of updates and fixes across development, staging, and production environments, ensuring minimal downtime and impact on live services. Automation & Development - Design, build, and maintain robust tools and scripts to significantly reduce errors, automate repetitive operational tasks, and enhance customer experience through improved system reliability. Develop custom software and scripting solutions to integrate with internal back-end systems and automate data visualisation processes. System Integration & Support - Provide comprehensive 2nd and 3rd line technical support for deployed applications and underlying infrastructure. Ensure seamless integration of OSS and BSS systems, maintaining high availability, performance, and security for all telecom systems in production environments. Problem-Solving & Incident Management - Perform thorough root cause analysis (RCA) of production errors and resolve complex technical issues, implementing preventative measures and long-term solutions. Lead incident response efforts for infrastructure-related outages, particularly within telecom platforms. Stakeholder Collaboration - Serve as a critical liaison between technical and business teams, translating business requirements into technical specifications. Collaborate closely with third-party software developers to ensure external development adheres to established processes and standards. Liaison with third-party suppliers who have built existing systems, maintaining effective working relationships. Solution Delivery - Demonstrate delivery of software solutions to tight timescales while maintaining quality standards and operational reliability. Support testing and operational cross-functional teams to ensure products are delivered on time in full within budget and scope and to high quality standards. Continuous Improvement - Continuously monitor and optimise system performance and efficiency to maintain high availability. Design and document Clear, actionable procedures for system troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and comprehensive operational runbooks. Security & Compliance - Implement and continuously monitor security controls to ensure systems are robust, secure, and resilient against evolving cybersecurity threats. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Skills and Qualifications



Salesforce Communications Cloud & OmniStudio (MANDATORY) - Proven hands-on experience with Salesforce Communications Cloud & OmniStudio is a must, specifically including Enterprise Product Catalog (EPC), Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ), Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM), and Order Management functionalities. Strong skills in configuring, managing, and optimising Salesforce Communications Cloud solutions. Strong understanding of salesforce ecosystem which includes Experience/Service/Sales Cloud and Field Service Lightening. Core DevOps Experience - Extensive practical experience (5+ years plus) as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar software engineering role, with profound understanding of DevOps methodologies, principles, and culture. CI/CD & Version Control - Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard tools. Proficiency with Azure DevOps workflows, including advanced branching strategies, pull request management, and code review processes. Cloud Platforms & Infrastructure - Solid understanding and hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platform, including virtual machines, networking, storage, and security services. Experience with containerisation technologies and infrastructure as code practices. Programming & Scripting - Strong practical knowledge and experience with Python for automation, tool development, and system integration. Proficiency in Bash/Shell scripting for command-line automation and system administration tasks. Database Management - Working knowledge of various database systems, including both relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases, with advanced SQL querying capabilities for data manipulation, analysis, and troubleshooting. Integration Platforms - In-depth knowledge of MuleSoft or similar enterprise-grade integration platforms (e.g. Dell Boomi). Understanding of API design, RESTful services, and data integration patterns. Telecommunications Domain - In-depth experience with OSS, BSS, and User Experience Systems within the fibre telecommunications industry. Familiarity with Linux/Microsoft operating systems and core networking concepts. Monitoring & Security - Practical experience with comprehensive monitoring and logging solutions. Experience with performance monitoring, alerting systems, and implementing security controls. Required Certifications - Salesforce Administrator (ADX201) and Salesforce Associate certifications demonstrating foundational Salesforce platform knowledge. Preferred Qualifications - bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or relevant technical field. Experience in leading DevOps initiatives or mentoring junior team members.
