Pa To Principal & Office Manager

Mansfield, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Outwood Academy Kirkby places students at the centre of everything it does, with a focus on creating a culture of success, a positive climate for learning, and increased student attainment, achievement and social and emotional development. We believe that all support staff within our Family of Schools are key posts in terms of securing student success and achievement across a broad range of subjects and experiences.

We have recently been rated 'Good' by Ofsted for the quality of education, personal development, and leadership and management. This is a testament to the hard work of our staff, students, and community, who have helped us to redefine a school that had been under 'inadequate' judgments for over a decade. We were also recently recognised as being in the top 1% of the most improved schools in the country. We are a special place that puts students first, and we're looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join us on our journey to becoming the best for the community we serve.

We became a part of the Outwood Family of Schools in 2022 and as a member of the Outwood Family we believe in putting students first, raising standards and transforming lives.

As part of our continual development, we look forward to work commencing soon on building a brand new state of the art academy building, providing our students and staff the very best facilities and educational experience.

We are a welcoming and supportive academy, with a relentless determination to provide the very best education for every child. We place students at the centre of everything we do, with a focus on creating a culture of success and a positive climate for learning.

As a large academy Trust of over 40 schools we work within learning communities with Outwood Academy Kirkby being a part of our Nottinghamshire and Sheffield community. The message below from our community executive, Carolyn Blundell, provides further information around our vision and ways of working that the successful applicant would be a key part of.

As the community executive principal, I'm also excited to share why joining our team offers a unique and rewarding experience that goes beyond working in a single school - if you choose to become a part of the team you will influence the lives of over 6,000 young people; shaping their futures by raising standards and transforming lives.

Imagine being part of a supportive network of four Outwood academies across Nottinghamshire and Sheffield, where collaboration and innovation are at the heart of everything we do. This is what it means to be part of our Outwood community, and it's something I'm passionate about fostering in my role. Across the learning community we host joint senior team meetings, schedule regular learning walks in different schools for colleagues (at all levels), work with local businesses to secure student opportunities and enrichments and are constantly developing mechanisms for working with parents. We have fostered a culture of sharing the very best practice across the community and are committed to providing world class professional development for teaching and support staff.

With us, you will have the opportunity to:

Connect and collaborate with colleagues across multiple schools: Share best practices, participate in joint projects, and learn from a diverse range of experienced professionals.*
Develop your skills and expertise: Benefit from a wide range of professional development opportunities and contribute to a dynamic learning community.*
Make a bigger impact: Your contributions will extend beyond your own classroom, and school, influencing and supporting colleagues and students across the community.*
Be part of something bigger: Experience the strength and support of a close-knit community within the larger Outwood family.*

I work closely with each academy in our community to facilitate this collaboration, ensuring that we are sharing our strengths, learning from each other, and constantly striving for improvement. This creates a truly unique and supportive environment where everyone can thrive. We also look to extend and enrich the lives of our students ensuring they too benefit from being part of a wider 'community' than the one in which they live.

Are you an organised and proactive professional with a passion for supporting school leadership? Our academy is seeking a skilled and experienced PA to the Principal and Office Manager to provide comprehensive support to the Principal while managing the school's administrative functions. In this dual role, you will be the first point of contact for the Principal's office, expertly handling communications, managing their diary, and providing confidential administrative support to the senior leadership team. You will also oversee the academy's administrative staff, lead the preparation of key school communications and events, and serve as the Clerk to the Academy Council, including managing meetings and minutes. This is a vital role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is dedicated to ensuring the smooth operation of our school's administrative functions.

The successful candidate will come from an administrative background. Previous experience of leading and motivating staff; providing clear vision and direction would be desirable though support will be provided. Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to gain credibility at all levels are essential. Well-developed ICT skills and an understanding and ability to maintain confidentiality will be vital to the role. Owing to the nature of the post, candidates should be flexible and appreciate attendance to evening meetings.

Hours of work will be 37 hours per week 8am-4pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 3.30pm on Friday. This post is term time plus two weeks. Actual salary for this post is 27,441 - 28,353.

The Academy benefits from being part of the Outwood Family of Schools and you will be joining a highly innovative, inspirational and ambitious organisation. The Trust guarantees every member of staff CPD and development opportunities.
