About the role



We're looking for a Packaging Sustainability Delivery Manager to help shape and deliver our packaging sustainability strategy across the group. This is a unique opportunity to drive meaningful change, from cutting packaging-related costs in our supply chain to achieving our compliance targets.

You will lead initiatives that reduce environmental impact, support regulatory compliance (e.g., EPR, plastic packaging tax, EUDR) and enhance the sustainability performance of our products and suppliers. This is a hands-on delivery role, requiring expertise in packaging materials, data management and collaboration with suppliers and internal teams to translate sustainability goals in to action.

Key Responsibilities



Packaging Sustainability Strategy & Delivery


- Lead the delivery of our packaging sustainability plans across internal teams and supplier networks

- Support development and implementation of sustainable packaging roadmaps with vendors.

- Collaborate with purchasing and supply chain teams to optimise packaging designs and processes.

Compliance & Reporting


- Establish and manage regular reporting against packaging.

- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations, including EPR, (UK/EU), plastic packaging tax, and future requirements (e.g., EUDR)

- Manage environmental compliance across the packaging portfolio, including recyclability, labelling, recycled content and source reduction.

Data Management & Insights


- Create and maintain a packaging database to support regulatory submissions and performance tracking.

- Validate and verify packaging data used for compliance, reporting, and tax obligations.

- Horizon scan legislative changes and proactively communicate business impacts and required actions.

Expert Guidance & Collaboration


- Act as a subject matter expert on packaging sustainability, advising cross-functional teams and suppliers.

- Provide best practices to factories to encourage adoption of sustainable materials, packaging reduction and circular design.

- Support vendor training and engagement to improve data accuracy and drive improvement in packaging sustainability performance.

Innovation & Cost Optimisation


- Identify and support initiatives that reduce the financial burden of packaging regulations through sustainable material choices and design optimisation.

- Explore circularity opportunities, including reuse, recycling and material recovery in collaboration with relevant teams.

About You



This role would suit someone who is passionate about sustainability, with deep expertise in packaging materials and a strong understanding of environmental compliance frameworks and reporting. You'll be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and confident leading change across internal and external stakeholders.

Required Skills & Expertise



Strong industry experience in packaging, including deep knowledge of packaging materials and formats. Proven track record in delivering sustainability initiatives across a portfolio of projects or suppliers. Experience with regulatory frameworks such as EPR, plastic packaging tax, and other relevant UK/EU environmental legislation. Excellent data handling skills- ability to analyse, interpret and report on packaging-related data and compliance metrics. Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to challenge and guide both internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Knowledge of circular economy principles and sustainable design standards is an advantage.
