The Paediatric Nurse Advisors are a small team of Children's nurses who work closely with parents and carers, as well as other health and care professionals, to offer nursing care and support to children with health needs in order for them to attend school safely.
For example-
Providing advice and training for families and school staff to support the needs of the child.
Supporting children with complex health needs and disabilities within the school setting.
Formulating health care plans with families for use in school.
Signposting to other services.
Providing a link between health, schools and families.
Attending appointments and reviews.
The post holder will be expected to participated as part of an integrated team using a person centred approach, access, plan, implement and evaluate care delivered.
To provide quality care to children in partnership with families and carers as commissioned and described within the service specification.
Assess the health and nursing care needs of children and young people within the individual care environment. To develop, implement and evaluate nursing care plans in partnership with the patient/young person families and carers whilst working in close co-operation with other disciplines.
To assist the training of less experienced registered staff, nursing auxiliaries, health care assistants and student nurses ensuring compliance to NMC standards to support learning and assessment in practice.
To provide, implement and regularly assess the teaching of specific nursing techniques, including invasive procedures to identified staff in a variety of settings.
To support and train parents/carers in the correct use of identified medical equipment.
Administer medications, treatments and interventions as prescribed and to monitor their effects.
