Paediatric Nurse Support Worker
to provide comprehensive care and support for a cheerful and energetic 3-year-old boy with haemophilia and cerebral palsy. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant difference in a family's life, providing both direct paediatric care and valuable household support.
About Our Client
Our client is a delightful 3-year-old boy who is mobile but wears an ankle AFO. He has haemophilia, which is managed with daily port-to-Cath medication administered by his parents. Due to a misdiagnosis of his haemophilia at birth, he suffered a TBI at 5 days old, resulting in cerebral palsy. He is a very energetic child who loves to play.
The Role
This is a dynamic role that combines direct
paediatric care
with essential family support. The support is required Monday to Friday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Direct Clinical Support
Administering a
rescue dose of medication
in the event of a significant fall or accident (full training will be provided if required).
Monitoring the client's overall health and well-being, promptly reporting any concerns to the family or relevant healthcare professionals.
Being vigilant for any signs of bleeding or complications related to haemophilia.
Childcare and Daily Living Support:
Providing engaging and stimulating activities for our client.
Assisting with personal care tasks as needed.
Supporting the client with mobility and ensuring his safety, especially given his mobility and condition.
Potentially transporting the client to and from rehabilitation appointments.
Family Support (during home-based hours):
Assisting with light household tasks.
Completing food shopping.
Picking up the two older children from school, enabling the parents to dedicate more time to our client.
About You
We are looking for an empathetic, proactive, and highly organised individual with a genuine passion for paediatric care.
Essential Requirements:
Registered Paediatric Nurse with current NMC registration.
Proven experience working with children with complex needs
, ideally with experience in haemophilia and/or cerebral palsy.
Ability to administer medication via a port-to-Cath
or a willingness to be trained.
A valid UK driving license and access to a car.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A calm and compassionate demeanour, with the ability to remain composed in emergency situations.
Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of the family.
An enhanced DBS check will be required.
