Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced

Paint Prepper / Fettler

to join our production team. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing fabricated components and machine parts for painting and finishing, ensuring our high-quality standards are maintained.

The Company:



World Leaders in welding and robot manipulation. Able to provide bespoke solutions to a World Class Customer Base. We design and manufacture high precision mechanical products for use in the production of wind turbines, the nuclear and defence sectors, general engineering, and oil and gas industries. Our machining is working mainly with ferrous but some non-ferrous metals, working to high precision tolerances. Progressive forward thinking and expanding due to growth.

The Role



You will be responsible for preparing a range of fabricated steel components and assemblies for paint application. Working closely with our painters and production staff, you'll ensure all parts are fettled, masked, and ready for coating to precise specifications.

Responsibilities include:



Preparing metal surfaces using sanders, grinders, and other hand or power tools. Fettling, cleaning, and smoothing fabricated components to remove weld spatter and surface imperfections. Masking components to protect critical areas prior to paint application. Carrying out visual checks and surface inspections to ensure quality standards are met. Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work area. Assisting with movement of components within the paint area (training provided if required). Following all company health and safety procedures. Using overhead cranes and FLT's to move workpieces safely throughout the working areas.

Our Ideal Candidate Will:



Have previous experience as a

Paint Prepper, Fettler, or Surface Finisher

, ideally within a fabrication or engineering environment. Be confident in using a range of hand tools and power tools such as grinders, orbital sanders, and grinders. Demonstrate a strong attention to detail and take pride in producing high-quality work. Be able to work independently or as part of a team in a busy workshop environment. Be reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.

Essential attributes:



Honesty and reliability. Familiarity to working in a precision engineering manufacturing environment. Excellent communication skills. Adaptability and self-sufficiency. Keen eye for detail and accuracy.

Hours of Work:



Monday - Thursday 8am - 5pm. Fridays 7:30am - 4pm.

Holiday Entitlement

- 20 days + 8 bank holidays (+1 birthday holiday).

The company has a shutdown over the Christmas period.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 13.50 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 42 per week
