Role Overview
As a Paint Technician, you will prepare panels for paint application, carefully mask surrounding areas to prevent overspray, and spray paint vehicles to the highest standard. You will work accurately and skilfully to ensure every job meets both customer satisfaction and company quality standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare and spray paint vehicles in line with agreed methods and standards, using spray booths.
Work to times and standards set by Thatcham, Insurance Company guidelines, Manufacturer Standards, and Company Policies.
Maintain and clean spray guns and related equipment.
Operate spray booths safely, ensuring correct pressure and temperature; report any faults to the Site Manager.
Maintain interlocks fitted between spray guns and exhaust ventilation.
Ensure air intakes are unobstructed and replace filters as required to maintain negative pressure standards.
Wear appropriate PPE including gloves, eye protection, and air-fed breathing apparatus when mixing and spraying paint.
Participate in regular health surveillance programmes as arranged by the company.
Maintain good housekeeping, including safe disposal of paint, lacquer, thinners, and general waste. Ensure lids are replaced when not in use.
Check PPE daily and sign the log sheet to confirm suitability for use.
Stay up to date with Health and Safety and COSHH requirements relevant to the role.
Report damaged equipment or parts to the Estimator and Site Manager immediately.
Protect vehicles from further damage by closing windows, masking open areas, and using seat and steering wheel covers when appropriate.
Store removed parts securely for reuse.
Ensure repairs are carried out to BS 10125 standards.
Be flexible and willing to carry out additional or alternative duties when required, including training courses relevant to your role.
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience as a Paint Technician, ideally within an accident repair environment.
Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Team player with strong communication skills.
Commitment to health and safety compliance.
Full UK driving licence.
Hours of Work
8.5-hour shifts, Monday to Friday
