Job Overview

We are seeking an Apprentice Painter & Decorator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be keen to learn and apply themselves. An eye for detail and a passion for transforming spaces through colour and design. This role involves preparing surfaces, applying paint and finishes, and ensuring high-quality workmanship in both residential and commercial settings. The successful applicant will be able to communicate effectively with mentors and clients to understand their vision and deliver results that exceed expectations. The post involves 2 years College training on a scheduled release basis as well as on the job training.

Responsibilities

Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and filling holes or imperfections. Apply paint, varnish, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment. Ensure all work is completed to a high standard of quality and in accordance with client specifications. Communicate with clients to discuss project requirements, timelines, and any necessary adjustments. Maintain a clean and organised work environment, ensuring all tools and materials are stored safely. Drive to various job sites as required, ensuring timely arrival for scheduled appointments.

Experience

Ideally a school or College leaver who has an interest in learning the Painting and Decorating trade. The candidate should have a good work ethic and be keen to learn. Strong communication skills in English are necessary for effective client and mentor interaction. Ability to work well as part of a team. An understanding of colour theory and design principles is an advantage.
