As a

Paralegal specialising in Financial Claims

, you will play a crucial role in assisting our legal team in managing cases related to

irresponsible lending

. You will work closely with clients who have been affected by predatory lending practices, providing support in filing complaints, gathering evidence, and helping resolve financial disputes. The ideal candidate will be passionate about consumer protection and have experience in managing financial claims, including legal research, documentation, and communication with regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities

:

Assist in investigating and gathering evidence for

irresponsible lending

complaints, including reviewing loan agreements, financial documents, and communications from lenders. Conduct thorough

affordability assessments

and identify potential violations of financial regulations and consumer protection laws. Draft and prepare complaint letters, legal documents, and filings to regulatory bodies such as the

Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS)

, or equivalent organisations. Collaborate with clients to understand their financial situation, documenting the impact of irresponsible lending and outlining the remedies they seek (e.g., loan cancellation, debt reduction). Research relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents related to

consumer protection

,

financial claims

, and

predatory lending

practices. Assist in preparing case files for litigation, including

evidence

collection, client interviews, and liaising with opposing counsel. Communicate effectively with clients, lenders, and third-party agencies regarding the progress of their complaints or legal claims. Ensure that all documents are properly organised, stored, and filed in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Monitor the progress of complaints, ensuring timely follow-up with lenders and regulatory authorities.

Qualifications

:

Paralegal Certificate or equivalent experience (preferred). Proven experience in

financial claims

or

consumer protection law

, particularly in cases involving

irresponsible lending

or

predatory lending practices

(preferred). Strong understanding of

financial terminology

,

consumer credit laws

, and

lending regulations

. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise complaint letters and legal documents. Ability to assess financial hardship and analyse complex loan agreements and financial documents. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal management software. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
