Are you passionate about delivering excellent administration and want to play an integral role within a highly regarded law firm with Sunday Times Best Place to Work?
How would you like to gain experience in reviewing legal files?
How would you like to work in this specialist department working alongside and professional yet and down to earth team?
Then this is the role for you!
About The Role:
We are looking for approximately 3 full time Paralegals to join our expanding Interventions Team.
Our Interventions Team holds national contracts to deliver Intervention Services for the three major legal regulators in England and Wales:
Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA)
Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC)
Bar Standards Board (BSB)
These regulators intervene into law firms or individual practitioners where statutory grounds exist, and when they do, Stephensons is appointed to act as the Intervention Agent.
As a Paralegal in the team, you will support and assist with all stages of the intervention process. This is an exceptionally unique area of practice where no two days are the same. You will gain experience across multiple areas of law including conveyancing, crime, family, PI, wills and probate, commercial matters and more.
Your key responsibilities will include:
During interventions:
Attending the premises of intervened firms
Evaluating and categorising practice papers, accounting records and client files
Taking possession of client data and securing sensitive information
Identifying urgent matters and dealing with immediate enquiries
Assisting managers and supervisors in sorting, selecting and marking files
Attending Day One interventions across the UK, sometimes at short notice
After files are secured and returned to our offices:
Reviewing client files for evidence of misconduct or costs that may be due
Responding to queries from clients, new solicitors, suppliers and third parties
Recording all interactions and actions in detail on our case management systems
Monitoring live files and flagging urgent issues
Confirming client identity and authority for file transfer requests
Repatriating files to clients or their chosen solicitors
Identifying clients or businesses who may be entitled to outstanding funds
Maintaining strict confidentiality at all times
Accurate time recording
Assisting with general accounts work and financial queries
Preparing relevant data for regulator meetings
Working flexibly across office and home settings, depending on departmental needs
You will be central to the smooth running of the intervention process and play an important role in safeguarding client interests.
What makes role so great?
This area of law is extremely unique and something that you won't find at most law firms.
There are only 4 firms in the country who can be appointed to act as agents by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, Stephensons is one of them!
No intervention is the same, which keeps us on our toes! We never know what we are going to be dealing with. It could be conveyancing, crime, PI, or family work, which results in fantastic exposure to a variety of work types.
About the Team:
The department is a small, close-knit team, they are specialist, professionals who have an extremely important role to fill. Though they have a high regarded role, they are extremely warm, welcoming and down to earth!
