These vacancies are based in the Regulatory and Corporate Legal Directorate (RCL). RCL is part of the Legal Division of the FCA.
Sitting in the Legal Division, Regulatory & Corporate Legal provides legal advice and support to the FCA on all non-Enforcement activities, including regulatory, policy and operational matters.
Role responsibilitiesProviding supervised legal advice across various areas of RCL's work, while engaging in satisfying and responsible tasks that offer opportunities to develop and enhance your legal professional skills Carrying out legal research and preparing clear, concise research summaries Assisting with judicial reviews and other litigation as / when they arise, while developing strong working relationships and liaising with colleagues across the FCA (this includes for example liaising with Counsels clerks to book meetings, assisting with invoicing issues, assisting with Duty of Candour/disclosure exercises, and liaising with colleagues across the FCA) Supporting the drafting, proof-reading, and legal review of documents, which may include contributions to FCA Handbook content Assisting the knowledge and development lawyer with legal knowledge management tasks and contributing to legal knowhow Collating and ordering documents, providing reports, and carrying out general legal administration where required Contributing to project management (e.g. preparing and maintaining spreadsheets) Communicating effectively with team members about the progress of tasks

Skills required
Minimum:Candidates must either have a law degree (or have passed a law conversion course following a degree in another subject) or be able to demonstrate legal training and/or experience to an equivalent level Experience of financial services law or public law

Essential:Prior experience in a role which has required strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to cultivate and manage stakeholder relationships across all levels Ability to apply sound legal reasoning and strong analytical skills to complex and unfamiliar scenarios, ensuring accurate application of the law to reach conclusions and deliver clear advice Willingness to accept ownership of tasks and ability to exercise good judgement in completing tasks A curious and open disposition to learning, to challenges and to change with the ability to be flexible to tackle new tasks and responsibilities Diligent attention to detail and ability to classify and organise information in a comprehensible manner Excellent written drafting and verbal communication skills, along with excellent organisational and administrative skills. Work collaboratively and inclusively with colleagues of different perspectives and backgrounds
