Main purpose of the job:
You will be working in a diverse department acting for a wide range of commercial and professional clients. You will be advising and defending clients across a number of sectors including education, financial services, healthcare, professional services, social care and transport and logistics.
Key responsibilities:
Dealing with telephone, email and internet-based enquiries from potential clients
Under the supervision of solicitors and partners you will be dealing with all aspects of cases, including:
+ Taking initial instructions either face to face at our offices/via MS Teams or by telephone;
+ Taking and drafting client and witness statements;
+ Drafting written representations to regulatory bodies at various stages of proceedings;
+ Communicating generally (both written and verbally) with clients, regulators, courts, professional tribunals, witnesses and experts when dealing with general case progression;
+ Advising clients regarding prospects of successfully challenging regulatory action;
+ Advising clients in relation to mitigation in preparation for a court or regulatory hearing;
+ Drafting detailed briefs to counsel ahead of conferences with counsel or Court and regulatory hearings;
+ Attending conferences with counsel, regulatory hearings and Court hearings;
+ Advising clients of the outcome of any hearings or other decisions and providing advice regarding any options moving forward. Working with solicitors and partners to continue to develop the regulatory practice by assisting with generating new and maintaining existing work streams;
Accurately recording relevant data related to new enquiries received into the team. Data to be recorded on internal departmental spreadsheets to assist with gathering and analysis of management information;
Providing regular contributions to the firm's website
Carrying out general administrative duties as appropriate.

Essential Requirements:
Degree (law is preferred but not essential)
Strong computer literacy and research skills
Excellent organisation and time management skills
Outstanding communication skills both face-to-face and over the telephone
Desirable:
Law Degree (ideally 2:1 or above) or relevant work experience
Experience or knowledge of studying or working in the field of regulatory law
Time management/Organisational skills
Attention to detail
High standard of communication skills both written and oral including a professional telephone manner
Ability to demonstrate an interest in regulatory law
Experience using case management systems
