Whitehouse Community Council is based at Whitehouse Community Centre (The Hive), located in the fast developing Western Expansion Area of Milton Keynes. It is seeking to appoint an innovative, forward thinking and proactive Parish Clerk & Responsible Finance Officer (RFO) that will lead the Council in its key aspirations and targets.
Applicants must have demonstrable experience, a track record of achievement and a strong commitment to public service. They should be highly motivated, community-focused and possess excellent managerial, communication, IT and organizational skills.
As the Proper Officer of the Council, the Clerk is under a statutory duty to carry out the general functions of the Council, including advice to Councillors, preparations of meeting papers, delivery of projects/events, staff management and to ensure the successful operation of the Council's facilities.
A sound knowledge of local government law and procedures is preferred. The Certificate in Local Council Administration (CILCA) is desired, or a willingness to attain this qualification within a reasonable timeframe from the start of employment.
The Clerk has ultimate responsibility for all financial records and the administration of the Council's finances.
Attendance at evening meetings and occasional weekend events will be required.
