Parliamentary and Public Affairs Officer - Inside IR35 Contract Term: 3 months Contracting Authority: UKSA Location: Hybrid \xe2\x80\x93 1day a week Harwell As a Parliamentary and Public Affairs Officer your main responsibilities will be:

  • Lead work on Select Committees and support wider Parliamentary engagement.
  • Provide effective management, coordination and timely responses to Official Correspondence, public and stakeholder enquiries and Freedom of Information requests (FOls) and Environmental Information Requests (EIRs).
  • Log and respond to correspondence according to the deadlines and guidance provided, working with colleagues across the Agency and seeking relevant levels of approval where appropriate.
  • Coordinate responses to Parliamentary Questions within deadlines, as well as advice for broader briefing commissions.
  • Support the coordination of Honours and similar submissions.
  • Maintain the UKSA\xe2\x80\x99s correspondence records including trackers, management information reports and the team\xe2\x80\x99s use of its SharePoint storage systems.
  • Cover for the Head of Parliamentary and Public Affairs and any other duties within the Parliamentary and Public Affairs team where necessary.

You\xe2\x80\x99ll have relevant experience in:

  • Excellent drafting and overall communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and understanding of the written English language including grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Resourceful, with ability to apply own initiative.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with an ability to work well as part of a team as well as other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret commissions and make recommendations.
  • Ability to work proactively to anticipate issues and develop solutions in order to prevent escalation.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure with competing demands.
  • A good working knowledge of MS Office systems (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • A keen interest in current affairs.
  • Knowledge of Parliamentary and Machinery of Government processes and drafting experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering Freedom of Information and Environmental Information Regulation requests.
