Job Description

E sustained a brain injury in a motorbike collision in 2019. He experiences difficulties with cognitive communication, cognitive fatigue, tangential speech, and executive functioning. He works and has support systems in place at home, where he lives with his parents, and at work. His family and girlfriend also provides support. E is keen to build new support networks and reduce his reliance on his family and girlfriend. He heavily depends on reminders on his phone.

E will require support with fatigue management, planning rest times, appointment reminders, general life administration, keeping track of therapy appointments, and completing home exercises (e.g., practicing a speech app on his tablet). He will also soon receive an actigraph watch for a sleep study, he will need assistance with making notes and ensuring he wears it as instructed. E also experiences periods of low mood, so support and understanding will be needed to monitor his mood and any self-harm ideation.

Initially we are looking to provide support for 3 hours per day x 5 days per week. We have already recruited a support worker to provide support 1 to 2 days per week so are ideally looking for someone to support E for 3 hours per day 3 to 4 days per week. Hopefully this support will increase to 7 days per week. These hours will need to be flexible due to his work schedule (3 shifts on, 5 days off). Some of this support could potentially be provided remotely or via phone calls on his workdays.

You must be a car owner/driver as E may need taking to appointments/activities.

You will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS, provide checkable references and proof of eligibility to work in the UK. Please let us know if you hold a portable DBS.

Pay: 16.00 per hour
