We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised freelance Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Proficiency in accounting software Xero is essential for this role. This position requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks.
This business you will be working on is an independent building company in Edinburgh. We have 13 Permanent members of staff and various subcontractors. Our office is based in Marchmont Edinburgh and would work alongside project manager where required.
Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software.
Process accounts payable and ensure timely payments to vendors.
Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow effectively.
Prepare financial reports and assist with budgeting processes.
Assist in the preparation of year-end accounts and liaise with auditors as necessary.
Produce and analyse
job costings
Support the team with day-to-day financial admin and reporting
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
Provide support in payroll processing as required.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role.
Proven experience in
cashflow forecasting
and
job costing
Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero is essential.
Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and general accounting principles.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Previous experience in the
construction industry
is highly desirable
