Job Description

We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Bakery Shop Assistant to join our team. The role involves serving customers, preparing and packaging baked goods, assisting with wholesale orders, and ensuring the shop remains clean, stocked, and inviting. Must be flexible to cover holidays up to 30 hours +

Key Responsibilities:

Greet and assist customers in a warm, professional manner.

Take and process customer orders accurately, providing product recommendations when appropriate.

Operate the cash register or point-of-sale system and handle payments efficiently.

Slice bread and other baked goods safely and to customer specifications.

Prepare, package, and complete wholesale and bulk orders according to schedule.

Package and label baked goods neatly and accurately.

Restock shelves and display counters to ensure products are attractively presented and available throughout the day.

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the shop, including counters, display cases, and work areas.

Monitor product freshness, assist with stock rotation, and report low or expired stock.

Comply with all food safety, hygiene, and health and safety standards.

Handle customer complaints or queries politely and professionally, referring complex issues to the manager when necessary.

Skill and Qualifications:

Previous experience in a bakery, retail, or food service environment (preferred but not essential).

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.

Basic math and cash-handling skills.

Strong attention to detail, especially when slicing and packaging products.

Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to assist where needed.

Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and cover holidays as required.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 16 per week
