Part-Time Teaching Assistant



We are seeking a passionate and proactive Part-Time Teaching Assistant to work with children who have a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), communication difficulties, emotional regulation challenges, and sensory needs. The Role



As a Part-Time Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to children both inside and outside the classroom. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals, ensuring that each child's individual needs are met, enabling them to reach their full potential.

Key responsibilities will include:

Supporting students with personal care as needed. Assisting with classroom activities and individual learning tasks. Helping students manage sensory and emotional needs, including the use of sensory rooms, soft play areas, and outdoor learning spaces. Promoting independence and life skills development. Collaborating with a team of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, and Nurses to provide tailored support plans for each student.

The Ideal Person



We are looking for someone who is dedicated, compassionate, and proactive. You should have experience working with children, particularly those with complex needs such as ASD, communication difficulties, and emotional or sensory challenges. The ideal candidate will have:

Relevant qualifications or experience in care, health and social work, childcare, or teaching assistance. A genuine passion for working with children and helping them to develop both academically and socially. A proactive approach to supporting students and problem-solving their needs. The ability to work effectively as part of a team, including therapists and other school professionals. Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children.

Hours



This is a part-time role, with working hours from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday. There is flexibility to choose the working days that best suit your schedule, allowing you to create a work-life balance that works for you.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
