Part-Time SEND Teaching Assistant

About the Role

In this nurturing school environment, you'll work closely with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, communication challenges, and learning difficulties. You'll provide 1:1 and small group support, helping children regulate emotions, engage in lessons, and build everyday life skills.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Provide individualised support to children with SEND Assist in delivering structured, engaging learning activities Support children with communication, emotional regulation, and behaviour Use visual aids and sensory strategies to meet individual needs Foster confidence, independence, and social development Promote a calm and positive classroom atmosphere

Who We're Looking For

We welcome people who have classroom experience, have worked in care or youth services, or have personal experience supporting someone with SEND.

You'll ideally bring:

Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs A calm, consistent, and emotionally resilient approach Patience and understanding when managing behaviour Excellent teamwork and communication skills A willingness to learn and grow--training in PECS, Makaton, etc., can be provided

Hours:

8.30 - 3.30 Weekdays only, with the option to choose the working days that suit you best.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
