Ballynahinch, NIR, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Job description - Part-Time Baker

Montalto Estate

Montalto Estate is a privately owned 400-acre estate in Ballynahinch, County Down. The historic estate has been fully open to the public since 2018 and is a major 5-star tourist attraction, welcoming over 135,000 visitors per annum. The senior management team are looking for an ambitious baker, to work alongside the full-time kitchen team in the continued creation and delivery of our well-established cafe offering, along with a number of other catering aspects on the estate. These range from public events, afternoon teas, private dinners and retail production, to name a few.

The Cafe at Montalto

The Cafe at Montalto is a stylish eatery which specialises in locally inspired dishes that people love - all served the Montalto way. There are areas on the estate where the gardening team grows produce for use in The Cafe, and we are always keen to showcase the produce of local, artisan suppliers, incorporating it into our dishes and in turn nurturing strong relations with them. Our Head Chef uses a variety of suppliers including Cavanagh Free Range Eggs, K & G McAtamney meats and Draynes Farm in the weekly menu. The reason for this is simple: supporting these producers, as well as growing our own produce, not only helps to sustain the local economy, it also ensures that we can use the freshest, highest quality, naturally grown ingredients.

This is a unique opportunity for the suitable candidate to join the team at this historic demesne, which has become one of the premier visitor attractions in Northern Ireland. You will have a strong passion for food and enjoy working with fresh produce, in an exciting, fast-paced kitchen environment. Work won't purely be limited to day-to-day cafe operations but also events, afternoon teas and other exciting opportunities. There will also be the freedom to demonstrate your own creativity and ideas within the role, something that will be actively encouraged.

Criteria:

- Providing the highest standards of preparation and presentation of a wide range of pastry and baked products

- Ensuring that cleanliness and tidiness is maintained in all kitchen areas

- Working as part of the Montalto team to deliver excellent product quality

- Ensuring excellent environmental health, and food hygiene standards are maintained

- Complying with all health & safety, hygiene, and licensing policies and procedures

- Good self-motivation and organisational skills

- A willingness to continue your development and an ability to work well with others in the team

- Relevant experience is essential
