We are looking for an organized and empathic veterinary receptionist to join our amazing team! The veterinary receptionist's duties include scheduling appointments, handling phone calls, issuing invoices, receiving payments, checking email on day-to-day basis and dispensing meds. You will also be required to inform the veterinarian on-call of any emergency cases that arise.
To be successful as a veterinary receptionist, you should ensure that our office remains presentable at all times. An outstanding veterinary receptionist will provide comfort to human and animal clients when in distress.
Position is part time 10hrs-30hr per week - including Saturday 9am-1pm or 9am-6pm, you will be required to work on rotation as well. (Monday till Saturday on rotation, you might be required to work on Bank Holidays)
Part time can be extended to full time for the right candidate.
Salary - 12.21 per hour
Role and Responsibilities:
Veterinary Receptionist Responsibilities:
Greeting and welcoming patients with sincerity.
Answering telephone calls and returning e-mails.
Scheduling appointment using our designated software.
Informing the veterinarian of any emergencies that require urgent attention.
Issuing invoices for treatment and dispensing prescribed medication.
Receiving and verifying payments after each consultation.
Monitoring the inventory of items for sale by the practice and restocking these, as needed.
Occasional ordering.
Overseeing the sale of items stocked by practice.
Liaising with courier services and laboratories to ensure that samples are delivered and collected on time.
Keeping reception/pharmacy/consultation rooms tidy and organized. Creating displays, sweeping and mopping floors in reception area, wiping surfaces. General organization of your place of work.
Cashing up end of day totals
Requirements for successful candidates:
GCSE or equivalent.
Previous administrative experience, preferably withing healthcare setting.
Intermediate computer proficiency.
Basic arithmetic skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Excellent organizational, time management and multitasking abilities.
Personable, empathetic disposition.
Capacity to work well during distressing situations.

The Practice has spacious dog and separate cat waiting area, dedicated pharmacy, dog groomers, 3 consultations rooms and staff room. We are open for 3 years now, growing steady, proudly independent and self-sufficient. Our team is small and friendly but growing stronger every day. We are based in North Birmingham on Witton Lodge Road Circle. The Practice opening hours are 8:30am - 6:30pm Monday till Friday and 9:00am - 06:00pm Saturdays.
