Purpose
To support the needs of all students within our school through targeted 1.1 support delivering interventions that improve punctuality, attendance and behaviour that lead to demonstrable improvements in a students personal development, behaviour and attitudes.
Manage the MIS system DatabridgeMIS to ensure that the range of events linked to behaviour, attendance and pastoral issues are effectively and efficiently recorded and accurately reflect the progress that students are making in relation to personal development, behaviour and attitudes.
To deliver established procedures to address the needs of pupils and their parents/carers who require additional support to overcome the barriers to learning; including attendance and behaviour.
To support the admissions process, specifically manage stage one and two
To follow statutory guidelines to ensure attendance rates aspire to be good and on/above the national average.
To act as a designated safeguarding Officer, responsible to the DSL.
The
Key Tasks:
To work with vulnerable students to help them gain confidence, social skills and develop as decent human beings.
Specific Pupil Support Manager Duties
Manage the daily running of the pastoral team
Maintain Resources in the pastoral room
Manage Pupil Attendance
Manage student transitions into and out of school
Support the placing of students in alternative education and work experience placements
Support and deliver interventions that improve students behaviour
Track attendance data and provide intervention
Liaise with colleagues and external stakeholders as appropriate
Meet and liaise with parents regarding behaviour, pastoral and/or attendance issues
Represent Expanse at attendance clusters (Wigan), PEP meetings, Annual Reviews and other professionals meetings
Meeting with SLT to discuss attendance matters when necessary
Liaise with external agencies and parents
Develop links with pupils who are transferring to the school to promote the school ethos of regular attendance
Work with subject teachers on linking attendance to achievement and attainment, including links with SEN. Monitor and support the work of the school business manager.
Individuals in this role may also:
Provide support and guidance to other support staff
Support the transition of pupils between phases
Attend staff training as appropriate (there is an expectation the post-holder will attend TeamTeach, Safeguarding and Early Help training)
Contribute to the development of activities to encourage family involvement in the school
Oversee support packages for pupils and work with Pastoral Co-ordinators to reintegrate them into school following periods of exclusion/absence
Provide advice and support to parents/carers of pupils who struggle with their attendance rates

Your Qualifications / Skills & Knowledge
Strong understanding of pastoral care, child development, and behaviour support in a SEND/SEMH context.
Experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, families, and professionals.
Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and emotional regulation strategies to support student wellbeing.
Ability to manage sensitive situations with empathy, discretion, and professionalism.
Competent in record-keeping, reporting, and using ICT systems to monitor behaviour, attendance, and safeguarding concerns.
Awareness of safeguarding policies, procedures, and the importance of early intervention.
Essential Requirements
Minimum GCSE grade 5 (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
Understanding of the Education Inspection Framework (EIF), especially in relation to behaviour, attitudes, personal development, and safeguarding.
Experience working with external agencies, such as CAMHS, social care, educational psychologists, and health services.
Ability to support and implement behaviour plans, risk assessments, and personalised pastoral interventions.
