The Manchester College is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Officer to provide emotional, behavioural, and safeguarding support to our learners. You'll work closely with teaching staff to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. This role is perfect for someone with strong interpersonal skills, resilience, and a genuine commitment to inclusion. Experience in education, youth work, or support services is essential. We have an exciting opportunity at our City Campus Manchester to join our Student Experience and Support Department as a Pastoral Support Officer on a permanent, full-time (35 hours per week), term-time only (over 38 weeks) basis.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience





To be successful in this role, you will need:


Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics or equivalent. Qualified to at least level 3 in Education, Social Care, Mentoring, Youth Work, Counselling or Advice & Guidance. Evidence of effective use of ICT systems and programs; including ProMonitor, EBS Reports. Evidence of effective use of ICT systems and programs; including Microsoft Office. Evidence of supporting learners in an educational setting, preferably FE / HE. Evidence of working with 16+ students, including adults. Evidence of experience in providing support for academic and personal, social and health development. Experience of motivating and affective change e.g. targeted and universal pastoral interventions or attendance improvements. Effective mentoring / coaching skills. Effective time-management. Prioritising workload and problem solving. Ability to work to deadlines. Flexibility of approach. Working in a team. Attending meetings and contributing to the development of working practices. Evidence of continuous professional development. Promotion of a positive culture. Promote and develop enrichment and promotion of wider-college opportunities.
