The Home-School Liaison Officer plays a key role in improving student attendance and addressing persistent non-attendance. By working closely with students, parents or guardians, staff, and external agencies, you will help raise attendance rates and contribute to students' overall well-being and academic success.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Inclusion Lead, Pupil Premium Lead, Heads of House, and Attendance Welfare Officer to support students and families facing barriers to education.
Serve as a vital link between students, families, staff, and external service providers.
Provide targeted assistance to vulnerable students--especially those with persistent absence--and advocate on their behalf.
Identify and address barriers to attendance, offering solutions that encourage consistent school participation.
Promote and champion attendance and well-being across the school community.
Develop and deliver (or assist with) intervention programmes for individuals or groups to help students and families overcome attendance challenges.
Liaise with external agencies to seek appropriate support and advice for students and families.
Support students in overcoming obstacles to learning to maximise their educational opportunities.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic records of referrals and interactions with external services.
Provide administrative support to assist with the effective delivery of student support services.
Deliver targeted support, as directed by senior staff, to improve the progress and attainment of students whose education is affected by attendance issues.
