Pastoral Support Worker

to join our committed student support team.

As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will play a vital role in promoting the wellbeing, engagement, and personal development of our students. You will provide targeted support to help students overcome barriers to learning, build positive relationships, and make the most of every opportunity the Academy has to offer.

Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Heads of Year, teaching staff, and external agencies, you will help ensure every student feels safe, supported, and ready to succeed. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines empathy and professionalism with strong organisational skills and a genuine commitment to improving young people's lives.

Key responsibilities:



Pastoral Support Workers are responsible for the organisation and delivery of interventions to improve the welfare, behaviour and pastoral care of students, ensuring interventions are recorded, monitored and impact is evaluated. They will promote a Trauma informed approach when interacting with students, staff and parents. They may be asked to manage and look into behaviour and pastoral incidents in depth and report to relevant senior members of staff. To assist in managing, leading, and developing systems and procedures to enhance standards of achievement, behaviour, and personal development for all pupils in the attached year group.

Has experience working with young people in an educational, youth work, or social care setting Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships Is calm under pressure, solution-focused, and able to manage sensitive situations with discretion Understands safeguarding principles and the importance of confidentiality and professional boundaries Works well as part of a team and can collaborate effectively with colleagues and external professionals Is passionate about inclusion, equity, and helping every student reach their full potential

Contract:

Permanent, Term Time + 1 week inset (Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week)

Hours:

8.15am - 4.30pm, Monday - Friday

On-site, with regular interaction across the school community

Westminster Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check amongst other pre-employment checks.

Interviews will be conducted on an on-going basis and conclude once a suitable candidate has been appointed - early applications are encouraged.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 26,173.00-28,682.00 per year
