Rossendale Hospice is seeking a professional Patient Escort Driver to work Tuesday and Thursday. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our team; and will be committed to providing compassionate care to our patients.
Your primary responsibility will be to conduct daily vehicle checks to ensure the vehicles remain road worthy and equipped ready for use to enable you to safely transport patients to and from the Hospice and their homes; while upholding the highest level of professionalism, demonstrating courtesy, patience, and respect for patients at all times.
Once your patient transport duties are fulfilled, you will also be required to provide transport services for other departments such as Fundraising, by delivering and collecting donations between both of our Charity Shops; and to undertake any other reasonable duties required as instructed by Management.
With the support of Management, you will also be responsible for managing and coordinating volunteers who will be assisting you in your duties. Your role is vital in ensuring that our patients receive the care and support they need and ensuring the operational service requirements of the wider Hospice departments are met.
Key skills, knowledge and experience for this opportunity include:
UK Driving experience, local geographical knowledge, and a full UK driving licence
Effective communication
Ability to safely assist patients with their mobility needs
Ability to manage and motivate a team of volunteers
Ability to plan and prioritise tasks to ensure service needs are met
Understanding of data protection and privacy legislation
Understanding of DVLA, Manual Handling, Health & Safety, and Infection control protocols
