We are seeking a self motivated Payroll Administration Apprentice to join our close-knit team based in our Ulverston office. This paid apprenticeship offers an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience in a professional accountancy office environment whilst at the same time, developing essential payroll processing skills and leading to further opportunities. The successful candidate must be eager to learn and have a 'right first time' approach whilst delivering an excellent client facing service.
Duties
Accurately processing employee timesheets, hours worked and payroll data for weekly. Bi-weekly and monthly payroll runs in a timely manner
Maintain employee records, ensuring all personal and financial data is up to date a secure
Processing new starters and leavers
Prepare and distribute payslips and relevant payroll reports to clients
Resolve payroll related queries from clients in a professional and timely manner
Liaise with HMRC regarding tax codes, payments and other payroll related matters
Support the preparation and submission of year end documents such as P60s and P11ds
Help ensure compliance and internal payroll controls, GDPR regulations and current legislation
Work alongside other departments to reconcile payroll reports and ensure payroll journal entries are posted
Pension administration including auto enrolment compliance and submission of data to pension providers
The Pension Regulator compliance duties
Completion and submission of Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) monthly returns
Handling incoming phone calls and emails in a professional manner.
Assist with office management tasks as and when required.
Requirements
Comfortable in a client facing role.
Proficient with computers, especially knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail.
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Analytical mindset capable of supporting report preparation and data analysis activities.
