Job Overview



The Payroll Shop is a well-established, payroll bureau providing reliable, efficient, and tailored payroll solutions to businesses of all sizes. We're looking for a detail-oriented and organised Payroll Administrator to join our small, friendly payroll team during a period of maternity cover, with the potential for a permanent role.

You will help manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate, timely payroll processing in full compliance with current UK legislation, including RTI, Auto-Enrolment, and statutory payments. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with payroll bureau experience who values attention to detail, client service, and working in a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities



Process end-to-end payrolls for multiple clients on varying frequencies (weekly, fortnightly, monthly) using BrightPay software Handle data input from timesheets, process amendments, holiday pay, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP etc.), and pension contributions Ensure accurate calculation of pay, deductions, overtime, variable payments, and compliance with HMRC RTI submissions Produce and issue payslips, P45s, P60s, and other required documentation to clients and their employees promptly Deal with client queries professionally, providing advice on payroll-related matters, statutory payments, and pension requirements Maintain client records and databases in line with procedures Support Auto Enrolment compliance and pension-related activities Reconcile payroll data and resolve any discrepancies efficiently Stay aware of changes to UK payroll legislation and regulations Carry out general administrative tasks as required within the team

Requirements



Essential



At least 1 year's experience in a multi-client payroll bureau or similar environment Strong working knowledge of UK PAYE, RTI, Auto Enrolment, and payroll legislation Proven experience using BrightPay payroll software High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and numerical skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to exceptional client service Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, and work effectively as part of a small team

Desirable



Familiarity with other payroll/cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage)

Job Type: Part-time
