Do you thrive on ensuring people and payroll operations run flawlessly every time? Hendy Group has an exciting opportunity for a People Hub Manager (Payroll and People Operations Manager) based in Southampton.
The Opportunity:
As our People Hub Manager, you will lead on meeting all regulatory requirements, mitigating risks, and managing future legislative changes. You will ensure all people and payroll audit standards are met while driving operational excellence across our processes. You will also manage people and payroll tasks to ensure colleagues are paid accurately, on time, and in line with legislation.
Role responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee accurate and timely completion of all people and payroll administration within our HR System, including new starters, movers, and leavers.
  • Manage all HMRC-related requirements, including RTI submissions, PAYE reconciliation, and ensuring all payments are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Ensure all pension responsibilities such as auto?enrolment, reconciliations, and pay overs are completed correctly and within deadlines.
  • Lead on year?end activities including RTI submissions, P60s, P11Ds, payroll statements, and Class 1A BIK calculations.
  • Prepare, reconcile, and process intercompany invoices, journals, monthly data reports, and audit requirements to maintain compliance.
  • Champion continuous improvement within the team by streamlining processes, optimising workflows, and supporting HRIS upgrades to enhance system efficiency.
  • Provide accurate people data for reporting, support Business Partners with employment matters, and ensure employment law compliance across all processes.
  • Manage payroll accuracy and timeliness, working with third parties to obtain required documentation and overseeing absence processes including family leave and average holiday calculations.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the team with regular check?ins, performance reviews, and development planning.
  • Support the Reward and Pay Manager on both ongoing and new projects, contributing to group-wide people initiatives.

About You:
  • Excellent attention to detail particularly around data input.
  • Ability to deal with volume requests in a confidential environment.
  • Good organisational, planning and time management skills.
  • A good practical knowledge of MS Outlook, Excel, and Office.
  • Ability to work towards tight deadlines in a pressurised environment.
  • Collaboration and ability to work well in a team.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret information quickly.
  • CIPD/CIPP qualification in Human Resources or Payroll (desirable).
  • Previous HR or Payroll background ideally working in a matrix organisation.
  • Previous experience in a volume/processing role.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and best practices.
