This position supports the production and testing of electronic assemblies, with a particular focus on the assembly and fault-finding of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs). The role includes hands-on soldering, diagnostic testing using standard laboratory equipment, and collaboration with engineering teams to support continuous improvement in product performance and manufacturability.
You will work closely with the Operations and Engineering departments and be expected to maintain high-quality standards in a technically rigorous environment.
Key Job Accountabilities
Precision hand soldering of both surface mount (SMD) and through-hole components to a high standard
Perform electrical testing and inspection on completed PCBs using multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment
Apply vibration-resistant coatings to electronic assemblies per defined procedures
Execute thermal and vibration testing on assembled PCBs
Document assembly and test processes by writing detailed reports and work instructions
Assist Operations in diagnosing and repairing failed electronic boards
Record and manage inventory using the company's ERP system
Support engineering design teams (mechanical and electronic) in resolving technical issues and optimising product build processes
Qualifications Required
No formal degree required. Qualifications in electronics assembly (e.g., IPC-A-610 or similar) are advantageous.
Experience, knowledge and skills
ESSENTIAL
Demonstrable proficiency in hand soldering of fine-pitch components
Experience assembling PCBs with both SMD and through-hole components
Ability to read and interpret electronic and basic mechanical drawings
Good written communication skills for reporting and documentation
Methodical approach with excellent attention to detail
Comfortable using electrical test equipment (multi-meters, oscilloscopes) for fault-finding
DESIRABLE
Familiarity with coating and potting processes
Experience working with ERP systems for inventory control
Understanding of quality management and production testing procedures
Exposure to oil & gas or harsh-environment electronic systems
Hands-on prototyping or workshop experience
