JOB SUMMARY / OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE:

The role is for an "all-round" engineer to work in post design support for military communications products. The company are specialist in marine and sub-marine low and very-low frequency communications and are a global leader in this specialist field. As a relatively small organisation, the engineer will be expected to be involved in almost all aspects of new product development and installed product support; from initial design, specification capture, assembly and testing, to in-field support and potentially on-site training of equipment operation.

The role will suit someone who likes to get involved in almost all aspects of a product and is not afraid to "muck-in" when needed on other projects. The product base is high-value, low volume electronic assemblies, specialist wiring harnesses, antennas, amplifiers and control units. Typically, the designs are high reliability, long service items (40-years is not untypical), hence design to minimise obsolescence is a necessity.
