The Role

We're seeking an experienced People & Culture Manager to lead our human resources function and cultivate a positive, inclusive workplace culture. You'll be responsible for the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment through to development and retention, while ensuring compliance with UK employment law and fostering an environment where our team can thrive.


This role reports directly to the Director of Operations and will work closely with the leadership team.

Working Arrangements


This is a fully remote position open to candidates based anywhere in the UK. We operate with flexible working hours, though we ask for availability during core hours of 9:30am-3pm GMT for team collaboration.


While we're fully remote, we bring the team together quarterly for in-person strategy sessions and team building.

Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Management



Manage end-to-end recruitment processes for all roles across the agency Develop and maintain job descriptions, interview processes, and assessment criteria Build and nurture talent pipelines for key positions Conduct initial screenings and coordinate interview schedules with hiring managers Create and deliver engaging onboarding experiences for new team members in a remote environment Maintain and improve our employer brand across recruitment channels

Employee Retention & Engagement



Design and implement employee engagement initiatives suitable for remote teams Conduct regular 1-1s, pulse surveys, and stay interviews to gauge team satisfaction Develop and manage performance review processes and career development frameworks Create and facilitate virtual team-building activities and cultural initiatives Partner with managers to address retention risks and implement improvement strategies Manage employee recognition programmes and milestone celebrations

Learning & Development



Identify skills gaps and create targeted development programmes Coordinate training opportunities, workshops, and professional development resources Support career progression planning and internal mobility Manage learning budgets and evaluate ROI on development initiatives Create and maintain a knowledge-sharing culture across the organisation

Policy & Compliance



Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies aligned with UK employment law Ensure GDPR compliance in all people data handling Manage employee contracts, handbooks, and documentation Stay updated on employment legislation changes and implement necessary adjustments Handle employee relations issues, grievances, and disciplinary procedures Maintain accurate HR records and reporting systems

Culture & Wellbeing



Champion and embed company values throughout the organisation Develop wellbeing initiatives supporting mental health and work-life balance Create and maintain communication channels that foster transparency and connection Monitor and improve remote working practices and policies Lead diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives Act as a cultural ambassador and trusted advisor to all team members

Strategic HR Support



Partner with leadership to align people strategies with business objectives Provide HR metrics and insights to inform decision-making Support organisational design and workforce planning initiatives Manage HR budget and vendor relationships Contribute to senior leadership discussions on people-related matters

Essential Skills

Experience



Minimum 3-5 years' experience in HR/People & Culture roles, ideally within digital agencies Proven experience managing HR functions in fully remote or hybrid environments Strong knowledge of UK employment law and best practices Experience with Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and remote collaboration tools Track record of successfully implementing people initiatives that drive engagement and retention

Skills



Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal Strong emotional intelligence and ability to build trust quickly in virtual settings Problem-solving mindset with ability to handle sensitive situations diplomatically Data-driven approach to HR with experience in people analytics Project management skills with ability to juggle multiple priorities Coaching and mentoring capabilities Proficiency in HR software, Google Workspace, and remote collaboration tools

Bonus Skills



CIPD qualification (or working towards) Experience in the marketing, creative, or technology sectors Knowledge of international employment considerations for remote teams Experience with OKRs or similar goal-setting frameworks Mental Health First Aid certification Experience implementing DEI programmes in remote environments Familiarity with agile working methodologies
