We are seeking a motivated and experienced pharmacy professional to join Frimley Health Foundation NHS Trust as a Band 7 Dispensary Manager.
In this leadership role, you will manage and develop the dispensary service, ensuring safe, effective, and efficient pharmaceutical practice. You will lead a team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff to deliver high-quality patient care within a busy hospital setting. This role requires strong organisational skills, expertise in dispensary operations, and experience working with Electronic Patient Record systems, particularly EPIC.
Manage day-to-day operations of the dispensary, ensuring timely and accurate dispensing of medications.
Lead, develop, and support dispensary staff, overseeing recruitment, appraisal, training, and retention.
Maintain compliance with statutory, regulatory, and professional standards including CQC, RPS, and NHS requirements.
Oversee stock control, wastage reduction, and efficient use of dispensary resources including robotic dispensing systems.
Use EPIC and other IT systems for inventory and dispensing management.
Investigate and respond to complaints and dispensing errors, promoting a culture of patient safety.
Support clinical trials, chemotherapy services, and pharmacy service improvements.

The Band 7 Dispensary Manager will be responsible for managing and developing the dispensary service to maximise safe, effective, and economical practice in conjunction with the senior pharmacy team. You will act as a role model and provide leadership to all technical and support staff within the dispensary.
Key responsibilities include planning and managing the delivery of a high-quality dispensary service; supervising pharmacists and technical staff regarding workflow; supporting recruitment, retention, and staff development; accuracy checking and dispensing medication; counselling patients; and maintaining full and accurate dispensing records.
You will investigate complaints and dispensing errors, monitor error logs, and implement corrective actions. Managing staff absence, grievances, disciplinary matters, and rotas will also form part of your role. You will ensure ongoing training and competency assessments for dispensary staff, manage stock and wastage, maintain departmental policies, and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and Trust procedures.
Additional duties include supporting clinical trials and chemotherapy teams, managing robotic systems, ensuring accurate temperature monitoring, holding regular staff meetings, participating in ward technician rotations, and representing the dispensary at relevant meetings.

Support clinical pharmacy services, including clinical trials and chemotherapy.
Maintain professional registration and engage in continuous professional development.
Participate in rota work including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required.
