Job Summary

The Pharmacy Dispenser plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective distribution of medications to patients. This position involves working closely with pharmacists and healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medication administration and have experience as a pharmacy dispenser, contributing to the overall efficiency of the pharmacy operations.

Duties

Accurately dispense medications as per prescriptions, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Assist in the preparation and packaging of medications for patients, including labelling and providing clear instructions for use. Maintain accurate records of medications dispensed, including inventory management and stock control. Provide excellent patient care by answering queries related to medications, side effects, and usage instructions. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes through effective medication management. Uphold cleanliness and organisation within the pharmacy environment, adhering to health and safety standards. Participate in public health initiatives, such as smoking cessation programs or flu vaccinations. Develop clinical knowledge and skills through interaction with a variety of healthcare professionals and patients.

Skills

Proficient in medication dispensing techniques and best practices. Strong background in patient care, demonstrating empathy and effective communication skills. Previous experience as a pharmacy dispenser is highly desirable, with knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and dispensing processes. Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in dispensing medications and maintaining records. Ability to work effectively within a team while also demonstrating initiative in individual tasks. Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Participate in public health initiatives, such as smoking cessation programs, flu or COVID vaccinations.

Requirements

Essential

:

Previous community pharmacy experience (minimum 6 months preferred). GCSE qualifications in English, Maths, and Science (Grade C/4 or equivalent). Ability to work effectively in a team and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.

Desirable

NVQ2 dispensing qualification

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 12.68-12.80 per hour

Expected hours: 16 - 34 per week
