About the Role





Fressingfield Medical Centreis looking to welcome an experienced and qualified phlebotomist into our busy practice, to support our nursing team. Working under the direction of the lead nurse and as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team, the role is offered at around 12 hours a week, likely to be Monday and Tuesday mornings.


The post-holder will be responsible for performing tasks to include:



Working strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols to assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care; Collecting samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures, ensuring correct storage, labelling, recording and efficient dispatching of samples; Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible, and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample; Checking patient identification against GP or nurse request, and confirming with the patient whenever possible; Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff; Notifying the GP of any significant patient issues; Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team.

About the Candidate




If you are an experienced phlebotomist looking for a new challenge, we would love to hear from you.

You will have the following skills and qualifications:
Minimum of a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification or experience; Relevant qualification and clinical knowledge and skills in venepuncture; Experience of working in a healthcare setting, ideally within primary care; Ability to record accurate clinical notes; Consistently confidential, compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues; Ability to communicate effectively, and to understand the needs of the patient; Strength in problem-solving, with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required; Flexibility and an adaptable approach;
Commitment to ongoing professional development.

About Us




Fressingfield Medical Centre are a dispensing practice operating over two sites, and have an excellent relationship with our patient population of around 6,500, dispensing for approximately 95% of them.



In this role you will be working alongside an experienced and dedicated nursing and clinical team to ensure a friendly, supportive and professional phlebotomy service. Our practice comprises a strong and diverse team of 3 GP partners, nurse practitioners, practice paramedics, dispensers, an experienced nursing team, and an efficient and accomplished team of care co-coordinators, administrators and secretaries. Teamwork and collaboration are at the core of the practice and we pride ourselves in our supportive and inclusive workplace.



We consistently achieve highly in QOF in comparison to the national average at year end and were rated "Good" by CQC. Our patients regularly report positive responses via the Friends and Family test and review us to be a good, well-organised and efficient practice.



We utilise SystmOne and Ardens to support our practice and patients.
