Serco is contracted to provide Total Facilities Management to the Defence Academy of the UK (DA). This prestigious establishment is responsible for post-graduate education and most of the command, staff, leadership, Defence management, acquisition, and technology training for members of the UK Armed Forces and MOD Civil Servants. Serco supports the DA as the MOD's primary link with UK universities and international military educational institutions.
Serco have an exciting new role as a Physical Training Instructor. The role is Responsible to the Station Commanding Officer, through the reporting chain, for the delivery of safe Physical and Recreational Training in accordance with Shrivenham Station Standing Instructions 307 and 308 and all relevant Shrivenham Station Standing Orders and Joint Service (where applicable) Physical and Recreational Training Policies.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
Implement and deliver the Physical Training Programme as directed by the MOD Physical Training Manager to all military personnel.
Guide and advise all British Military personnel in accordance with the individuals Service fitness assessments, tests and standards as applicable.
Supervise and coach sports and adventurous training as directed and qualified.
Assist in the conduct of military Physical Fitness Assessments and Tests as directed and within the protocols of each assessment or test depending on service and input of results onto relevant databases and the referral of failures.
Conduct inductions for all users, military and civilian within the guidelines of the Athletics Union, Health and Safety and Station Gymnasium Standing Instructions.
What you need to do the job:
A minimum Level 2 REPs Gymnasium Instructor with Circuit and running training qualifications.
IT Literate.
Current recognised first aid certificate.
Fitness training and sports coaching qualifications
Familiar with military discipline and ethos would be an advantage.
Indoor Cycling Instructor qualification (Desirable). Be willing to undertake and pass within three months if successful.
