We are looking for a committed and adaptable

Picking, Packing & Delivery Operative (Relief Driver)

to join our team. This is a dual-responsibility role that requires flexibility: the successful applicant will spend most of their time packing and preparing wholesale orders, but will also cover delivery driving duties when required - such as holidays, sickness, or busier periods.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in accuracy and presentation, and is confident representing the bakery when interacting with customers.

Key Responsibilities

Picking & Packing

Pick wholesale orders accurately and efficiently from bakery stock. Pack products neatly and securely to maintain quality during transport. Label and organise orders ready for dispatch. Maintain a clean, organised workspace in line with food safety and hygiene standards. Report any issues, errors, or discrepancies promptly. Support general warehouse and dispatch tasks as needed.

Relief Driving & Delivery

Provide cover for delivery routes when required, including early starts. Deliver bakery goods safely and efficiently to wholesale customers across Northern Ireland. Represent Kirks Bakery professionally when interacting with shop owners and staff. Load and unload the delivery vehicle safely and check orders against delivery sheets. Collect signatures/confirmations and pass on any customer feedback to the appropriate team member. Maintain cleanliness and basic care of the delivery vehicle.

Teamwork & Adaptability

Work closely with the dispatch and wholesale teams to ensure all orders are prepared and delivered on time. Adjust to changes in production schedules, order volumes, or delivery needs. Be willing to take on additional tasks during busy periods.

Qualifications & Skills

Full UK driving licence (clean record preferred). Experience in picking/packing or delivery is helpful but not essential--training will be provided. Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining quality. Good communication and customer service skills. Organised, reliable, and able to work at pace while maintaining accuracy. Physically fit to lift and move boxes of baked goods safely. Positive attitude and team-focused approach.

Shift Patterns

Shifts may vary depending on production and delivery needs. Flexibility is essential, as some early starts or later finishes may be required - particularly when covering driving duties.
