Pitched Roofing Operative

John Flowers Ltd is offering an exciting opportunity to join our expanding team as a Pitched Roofing Operative. Working alongside experienced roofers, you'll assist with materials handling, transport, and general site duties. The role is based in Washington, North East England, with most projects located within a 100-mile radius of our office -- though occasional travel further afield may be required.

About the Role:

We're looking for someone who can bring a blend of skill, experience, and enthusiasm to the role. The ideal candidate will have:

Roofing experience (required) CSCS Card (required) Full, clean driving licence (preferred) Flexibility and the ability to adapt to change while working effectively within a team A friendly, professional attitude with strong organisational and interpersonal skills Excellent hand-eye coordination A keen eye for detail Good written and verbal communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

Your main duties will involve all aspects of pitched roofing, including but not limited to:

Removing or repairing damaged tiles or slates (stripping) Inspecting roof timbers for condition and stability Measuring roof areas to determine required materials Installing insulation and roofing felt Fitting slates, tiles, sheets, or cladding Applying waterproof membranes to flat roofs Installing flashings around chimneys, windows, and walls (plastic or lead) Sealing roof joints with mortar
