Job Description

We are seeking a Planning and Procurement Coordinator to join our team.

This is a full time role, working hours are 8.30am - 4.45pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am - 3.30pm on Fridays. There is flexibility with this working pattern.

Purpose of the Role



The

Planning & Procurement Coordinator

is responsible for ensuring that all fabrication and modular projects are delivered efficiently, on time, and to specification through robust production planning and effective procurement. Working closely with the Design, Sales, and Production teams, this role ensures that materials, suppliers, and schedules are aligned to support flawless project execution.

This is a key operational role that drives workflow coordination, supports cost control, and safeguards Gateway's commitment to quality and service.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Materials Management



Work with the Design team to identify all required materials, components, and specialist items for each project. Create accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and ensure timely purchasing of all items. Source and manage suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing, lead time reliability, and quality standards. Track material deliveries, ensuring availability aligns with production plan. Implement effective stock control and inventory management practices. Resolve supply issues quickly to avoid production disruption.

Production Planning



Develop detailed production plans to support fabrication and modular project schedules. Translate confirmed orders into clear shop schedules, capacity plans, and material requirements. Coordinate with the Production Manager to sequence work effectively and optimise workshop throughput. Monitor progress of works against plan, adjusting schedules when necessary to maintain delivery commitments. Identify potential bottlenecks early and implement solutions to prevent delays.

Cross-Functional Collaboration



Liaise closely with Sales to understand order pipeline, customer requirements, and future demand. Work with Design to ensure specifications are clear, feasible, and captured correctly before procurement. Communicate effectively with Production and Project Management to ensure readiness for each project stage.

Process & Systems



Maintain accurate records in planning and procurement systems (SAP). Drive improvements in planning, scheduling, and materials workflows. Report regularly on planning status, procurement performance, and risks to operations.
Person Specification

Essential



Experience in a fabrication, engineering, manufacturing, or modular construction environment. Strong production planning and scheduling capability. Hands-on procurement experience, including supplier negotiation and material sourcing. Excellent organisational and multitasking skills. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings / fabrication drawings. Strong communication skills across teams. Proven ability to manage deadlines and solve operational problems quickly.

Desirable



Experience using MRP/ERP systems, ideally SAP Knowledge of steel fabrication, modular builds, or related manufacturing processes. Background in cost control or supply chain optimisation.
