Impact Recycling is a plastics recycling technology company that has developed ground-breaking mechanical recycling technologies capable of processing complex post-consumer plastics at commercial scale, including regulated medical plastic waste.
We are seeking an ambitious and hands-on Plant Manager / Operations Manager to lead the ramp-up of capacity at our Bellshill facility. This role is critical to the successful commissioning, stabilisation, and long-term operation of a specialist medical plastics recycling plant operating to high regulatory, quality, and safety standards.
The successful candidate will work closely with the CTO and engineering team during installation and commissioning, before building and leading an operations team to run the plant safely, efficiently, and reliably post-commissioning.
Key responsibilities
Lead day-to-day plant operations during commissioning and steady-state production
Lead the engineering team during equipment installation, testing, and commissioning
Own the ramp-up of throughput, yield, and uptime to agreed capacity targets
Recruit, train, and develop an operations and maintenance team capable of running the facility post-commissioning
Ensure production, quality, maintenance, and reliability KPIs are consistently achieved
Implement and maintain robust operating procedures for a regulated medical plastics environment
Full responsibility for site SHEQ performance, including compliance with permits, audits, and regulatory inspections
Oversee preventative and reactive maintenance planning and execution
Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, and operational efficiency
Act as the senior operational point of contact on site
Experience and skills required
Proven experience as a Plant Manager, Operations Manager, or in a similar senior operational role
Background in a manufacturing, processing, or engineering-led industrial environment
Experience commissioning or scaling up new plant or production capacity is highly desirable
Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, motivate, and manage site teams
Excellent communication skills, both on the shop floor and with senior management
Strong organisational and planning capability
Demonstrated strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance in regulated environments
Desirable experience
Experience in recycling, polymers, chemicals, or regulated waste processing
Familiarity with SHEQ management systems
Exposure to continuous improvement or lean manufacturing approaches
