Job Description
Position: Plant Operator/Lorry Driver
Pay Rate: 12.92 per hour
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week
Start Date: 4th August 2025
Location: Moira
Length of Contract: Until 25/01/26, possible extension
Hours of Work: Mon-Thur: 8am to 4:30pm, Fri: 8am to 1:15pm

The Plant Operator will be expected to contribute to HED's maintenance, conservation, and preservation of our State Care sites. The main duties and responsibilities of the post holder will include, but not limited to:
1. The operation of various types of heavy plant (i.e. 360) hydraulic excavators and their attachments as required to carry out
2. The implementation of all health and safety measures.
3. The daily and weekly operator maintenance of the machine as scheduled, reporting any faults or defects.
4. Securing and immobilising the machine as directed.
5. The care and maintenance of all auxiliary equipment and tools.
6. Completion of Plant Logs on a daily basis and the inspection pro-forma weekly.
7. Load and unload materials for transport to and from site.
8. Drive departmental vehicles, including transport of colleagues and materials.
9. Complete required documentation as requested.
10. Carrying out general labour duties.
11. Attend training as required.
Essential Criteria:
1. A minimum of 5 years' experience operating heavy plant e.g. 360 hydraulic excavators and their attachments.
AND
2. Possess minimum class CE driving licence to enable the post holder to drive in Northern Ireland.
Desired Criteria:
1. Haulage of heavy plant and operating lorry mounted loader crane.
