We are seeking a skilled Plasterer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plastering and related skills, undertake high quality repair, maintenance and new installation works to a variety of Council owned properties, including tenant's homes, whilst maintaining high levels of customer care and safety awareness.
Responsibilities
The post holder is responsible for providing a suitable mode of transportation to convey themselves and their personal tools to various sites across the Borough throughout the day, in order to consistently achieve the necessary levels of performance and production. The Council may provide a vehicle, from time to time, dependent on operational necessity. eir
The post holder shall need to be sufficiently competent to carry out a wide range of general plastering works to various Council sites, including domestic dwellings, communal areas, Sheltered Housing Schemes. As a minimum the post holder must to able to undertake the following activities to a consistently satisfactory standard;
-Internal plastering, using Gypsum and cement based products including boarding and hacking-off as necessary.
-External rendering, Tyrolean and spa based coatings
-Glazed and floor tiling
-Floor screeds
-Damp Proof Course injection
-General plastering works appropriate to NVQ Level 2.
All craft post holders are required to undertake a range of multi skilling, in order to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. The position of 'plasterer' will also be regularly required to undertake;
-Carpentry - remove/re-fix kitchen units, skirting, architraves, airing cupboards, panels, modify timber studding, etc.
-Brickwork - form and make good holes in brickwork, general making good where required.
-Plumbing - remove radiators, relocate incoming mains, renew and re-point lead flashing.
To effectively communicate with customers, line mangers and Council officers, to ensure all works, including emergencies, are prioritised correctly, appointments are maintained and documentation and certification is accurately completed and submitted within required timescales.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Plasterer or in a similar role within the construction industry is essential.
Minimum of NVQ Level 2 in plastering (or equivalent craft qualification)
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools related to plastering.
Knowledge of masonry techniques is advantageous.
Experience in bricklaying or roofing is considered a plus but not essential.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.
Excellent physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials when necessary.
A valid driver's licence may be required for travel between sites.

This is a contract post for
6 Months with a possibility of extension for another 6 months

Pay rate is negotiable depending on experience and skill set.
