Do you have a passion for early childhood development and love getting involved in creative play and outdoor exploration? We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative Play Assistant to join our team at Rodborough Playgroup.

We are a welcoming, inclusive, and established community Playgroup committed to providing a creative, fun, and nurturing environment where children thrive through play-led learning. Situated near Rodborough Common, we pride ourselves on giving every child the attention they need to build strong foundations for their future education.

The role will be 32.5 - 37 hours per week - we can negotiate slightly more or less hours than this on request.

The start time would generally be 8.30, with a finish at 15.30. It's important that these are the regular times to assist with opening and closing the setting. But we can offer some limited flexibility for candidates who have the right attributes and experience.

As a Play Assistant, you will work closely with the Playleader and other Practitioners to deliver high-quality early education:

Direct Support: Act as a key person, nurturing strong bonds with a small group of children and supporting their personal learning journeys. Activity Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate play experiences both indoors and out, embracing our love for open-ended investigation. Environment Setup: Help create and maintain a stimulating, safe, and organised play environment. Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with the rest of the team and communicate children's progress with parents.
What You Will Bring

Ideally, a Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years Qualification (Nursery Practitioner/Educator). Applications from highly experienced, unqualified candidates will also be considered if they can work towards an apprenticeship. Genuine enthusiasm for working with children aged 2.5 to 4 years. A commitment to the Playgroup's inclusive, play-led ethos. Reliability, flexibility, and strong teamwork skills.
What We Offer

Term-time only hours, allowing for excellent work-life balance. The opportunity to work in a well-regarded, supportive local charity. A competitive hourly rate based on your qualifications and practical experience, starting at a minimum of the national living wage based on your age.
